Cities like Tema, Ghana are moving towards a more climate resilient future — but doing so means tackling complex urban water challenges shaped by urbanisation and climate change. Flooding remains one of the key pressures, affecting infrastructure, livelihoods, and public health, particularly in vulnerable communities. Strengthening flood resilience is therefore central in creating liveable, sustainable cities — and closely linked to how urban stormwater and wastewater systems are planned, operated, and maintained.
Through the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC), the City of Aarhus and Aarhus Vand have partnered with Tema Metropolitan Assembly and Ghana Water Ltd., combining Danish expertise with local knowledge to support more integrated and sustainable urban water management. PEMconsult is happy to support the formulation of the next phase of this collaboration — where strong design and clear direction will be essential in ensuring long-term impact.
