PEMconsult has been awarded the contract for the formulation of three initiatives to be funded under the Danish Climate Envelope:
-
A new bilateral cooperation programme between India and Denmark to support India’s green energy transition – this is expected to focus on wind power development, increased flexibility of the power system, and long-term scenario modelling and planning;
-
Support for a second phase of SIDS Lighthouses Initiative, a programme to support sustainable energy solutions in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), implemented by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA);
-
Support for fossil fuel and electricity subsidy reform under Global Subsidies Initiative (GSI) implemented by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
The three formulation processes will run in parallel until mid-2019 and will be undertaken in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark; the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate; and the Danish Energy Agency. There is emphasis on maximising synergies with other Danish international development cooperation on sustainable energy and building upon areas of particular Danish expertise and experience in sustainable energy and climate change mitigation.
