Thorbjørn has a Master and PhD. In economics from the Institute of Economics, University of Copenhagen.
Thorbjørn has 13 years of experience as a researcher and assistant professor at the Institute of Economics, University of Copenhagen, 8 years of hands-on experience from development assistance in Central America (advisor, project director, and regional representative for the Danish NGO Ibis), and 18 years of experience as an international consultant working in Asia, Africa and Latin America. He has worked in many sectors (agriculture, environment, water and sanitation, education, civil society, SME finance, democracy, human rights, and public sector reforms). He has worked with both official development aid and NGOs, and with different aid modalities (projects, programme and budget support) and with different tasks (formulation, appraisal, review, evaluation and implementation support).
Thorbjorn is living in Nicaragua, and is fluent in English, Spanish and French and also has the ability to work in Portuguese speaking countries.
