Jens Lorentzen


Jens has a Master’s degree in engineering and 40 years of experience in bilateral and multilateral development cooperation. He worked for 11 years in multilateral development agencies (World Bank and UN), 16 years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and 13 years in Danish consulting companies.

He is used to working in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams and has experience as Team Leader on numerous appraisals and reviews. He has also worked on project and programme formulation and evaluations. His experience comprises assignment as long-term advisor in a developing country public authority and he is experienced in authority-authority twinning and other innovative forms of development cooperation.

Jens believes strongly in multi-faceted and cross-sectoral solutions to development challenges and opportunities, for instance working across the rural-urban divide, along value chains, across sectors in nexus approaches (e.g. energy-water-food security), in climate change mitigation as well as adaptation, and in capacity development solutions with focus on institutional as well as individual learning and development.

Countries: Assignments in over 39 countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East and North Africa, the European Neighbourhood Region, and the Americas.
